Key West B&B: The Duval House

The Duval House is a Bed and Breakfast that is head and shoulders above others in Key West. There are many in town, but none match the friendly staff, first-class rooms, calming and relaxing grounds, delicious breakfasts, very accommodating concierges, and selections of drinks and cigars every night. It is the premier guesthouse in Key West for a reason.

The incredibly friendly and bilingual staff at The Duval House go beyond to ensure your stay is relaxing and memorable. From the moment you walk into the lobby, they do not treat you as a guest but rather more like family. If it is in their power to do whatever you need, consider it done. This goes from the front desk to the housekeeping and everyone in between. Everyone on the staff is so kind and helpful to all the guests.

There are seven buildings with 29 guestrooms or units. They range from standard queen bedrooms to a duplex with two large bedrooms, a living room, and an enormous balcony overlooking Duval Street. There is also a cottage with three queen-sized beds, a gated deck, and a private bathroom. All of the rooms feature a combination of elegant and tasteful artwork and fabric and antique furniture to bring a cozy, inviting and relaxed atmosphere.

Many rooms have ceiling fans for when the weather is nice outside, and you can leave the windows or terraces open. But they also all have air conditioning to cool you down from the Florida heat night and day. There are flat-screen cable/satellite televisions in every room and free Wifi in the rooms and all over the premises. Some rooms come with refrigerators, microwaves, irons, and ironing boards. Some select rooms come with kitchenettes, private balconies, and terraces. There is daily maid service, and all of the rooms are non-smoking.

The grounds are like a tropical jungle with a beautiful garden of lush greenery. The swimming pool is an oasis from the heat of the Florida sun. There are plenty of comfortable chaise lounges to lie on, or you can spend some time in the gazebo. The pool is open 24/7 and is comfortable year-round, with heating in the winter months and cooling down in the hot summer months. There is a 100-year-old Banyan tree in the courtyard. The guesthouse is on the lively Duval Street, but inside its walls, it is a tranquil retreat from everything happening in the world.

The Duval House has one of the best complimentary continental breakfasts. Every morning, they set up an array of delicious pastries, muffins, cereal, and yogurt. The staff makes Belgian Waffles to order for all guests and serves freshly brewed Dogwood coffee, which is available throughout the day. Some breakfast items may contain gluten, nuts, preservatives, or other things people must avoid for dietary reasons. The staff will work with anyone who needs nutritional needs met.

The concierge staff are very knowledgeable about everything happening in Old Town and all over Key West. They know the best tours, fishing charters, dive boats, boat charters, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and more and can help you plan a great day or week, seeing and doing all that Key West is known for.

The Duval House and Key West are great places to have your wedding. The beautiful lush gardens and the 100-year-old Banyan tree make perfect backdrops for your wedding. The staff will work with you to get the wedding of your dreams, whether it be a beautiful wedding in our courtyard under the Banyan, by the pool, on a white sandy beach, or anywhere in Key West. They know the best caterers, photographers, florists and everyone needed to make your day one you will remember forever. The motto at The Duval House is “Go Further!” and the staff will go the furthest you need them to go to ensure all of your wedding plans are filled and that your day is and will always be your special day. And with 29 rooms, there is plenty of room for your entire wedding party.

Key West has a rich tobacco history, and The Duval House grounds were the location of two separate tobacco companies. The cigar culture is alive and well in the Keys, and at The Duval House, there is a selection of beers, wines, and cigars that rotate routinely. You can come to the front desk and find your favorite drinks and smokes, then relax by the pool, in the gazebo, or the courtyard.

The Duval House is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Key West. It has stately rooms, beautiful grounds, and some of the friendliest people on staff. No wonder it is a top choice for a place to stay in Key West.

One thing of note is that the property is an adult-only guesthouse, and anyone under 17 is prohibited from the premises.
