With waters off the coast teeming with life and year-round fishing, New Jersey is a fisherman’s paradise. The State of New Jersey has one of the largest fleets of charter fishing boats in the Northeast because there is epic fishing here! So many fish every angler wants to catch are found in the shallows inshore or the deep blue offshore. You can book many trips from the many New Jersey Fishing Charters. You can book half-day, ¾ day, full-day, extended day and multiple-day charters. There are also tons of specialty charters for those that want to target specific fish like Stripers, Tuna or Mahi Mahi.
The inshore waters of the bays and rivers are full of fish. There are significant numbers of Stripers (Striped Bass), Flounder and Fluke, Weakfish, Brown Trout and more. Over 130 miles of productive coastline means you will find fish wherever you go. There are many places where the inshore fishing is incredible. Sandy Hook and Belmar are great with bays, barrier islands and the Raritan, Navesink, Manasquan and Shark Rivers in the north of the state. Central fishing is excellent at Tom’s River, Barnegat, and Long Beach. Barnegat Bay and other calm waters inshore host a plethora of fish. Down south, near Atlantic City and Brigantine, there is fishing in Absecon Bay and Reeds Bay, and at the southern tip of the state, Cape May has many creeks, sounds, the Cape May Harbor and the 157 miles of the Delaware Bay that house Stripers and so much more.
When people think of offshore deep-sea fishing in Jersey, the fish that is thought of the most is Tuna. There are Yellowfin, Big Eye, Albacore and Giant Bluefin Tuna. Along with Tuna are Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, a wide variety of Sharks and depending on the time of year, you can battle some of the large billfish; Blue Marlin, White Marlin, and Swordfish. This action happens way offshore at the Hudson, Wilmington and Baltimore Canyons, so you will have to plan for an extended or overnight charter to hook up with these trophies. Your arms and back will be aching after your fight, but the pain is temporary, the feeling you get reeling one in is priceless.
Closer to the shore, there is excellent wreck and reefs. The reefs are abundant with fish. You can go fishing for bottom feeders like Seabass, Tautog, Cod and more roaming the ledges and bottom structures and Cobia, Bluefish, Amberjack and Sharks can be found cruising the reefs.
Over 100 New Jersey Charter boats are found at numerous marinas that dot the shoreline. You can choose from party boats and private charters, and some private charters offer single and small groups shared trips. Whether you are a family looking for a fun way to spend a day or a hardcore angler looking for a fight with a giant, New Jersey Fishing Charters have got you covered. After a day on board, you will have a cooler full of fish and memories to last a lifetime.
