Captain Justin Bachert is an experienced fisherman who has been fishing Florida’s waters since he was thirteen. He has worked with some of the best guides in the business and now operates his own business: Hot Water Fishing. Justin’s passion for fishing shows through in everything he does, from his enthusiasm to find new spots on each adventure to teaching novices how to properly land a fish with ease. The conservation-minded captain is committed to preserving the backcountry for future generations to enjoy by practicing catch-and-release almost exclusively.

Captain Justin of Hot Water Fishing uses a 2022 Floyd Skiff measuring 17′ 10″ for all his charter trips. With impressive backcountry capabilities, it can access areas that aren’t accessible by regular boats. Equipped with a 70 hp Yamaha engine with trolling abilities, it gives anglers great flexibility. It enables them to get close to the fish for a better fishing experience. With this boat, Captain Justin offers customers an unforgettable experience to bring home lasting memories.

The Florida Keys are some of the world’s most fertile waters, and the waters of Big Pine Key are teeming with life. All of the fish that inshore anglers dream about are trolling these waters, waiting for your hook; Tarpon, Snook, Bonefish, Permit, and Redfish. Of course, other fish that might bite are Sea Trout, Pompano, Jacks, Barracuda, Snapper and Grouper. Catch and release is followed almost all the time. Still, there is always the possibility of taking home a Snapper or Grouper for a tasty dinner.

When it comes to fishing techniques in the backcountry, Captain Justin knows just what to do. Fishing in the Keys’ flats and backcountry can be done using multiple techniques on spinning and fly reels. Tarpon, Bonefish, Snook, Permit and Redfish are all popular catches in the area. One of the most common methods for catching these species is live bait fishing, allowing anglers to observe their prey and determine when to strike. Some other techniques used are sight casting, bottom fishing, trolling and jigging. These methods will yield good results depending on the fish you want to target. Whatever method you choose, there’s never a dull moment on the water in the Florida Keys.

When you book a Hot Water Fishing charter, you will also have access to top-level equipment from brands such as Shimano and R.L Winston Rod Co. However, it is important to remember to bring your sun protection, food, drinks and camera to make the most of your day on the water and bring home lasting memories of the acrobatic leaps of the many fish. Captain Justin’s quiver of fly and spin tackle means you can be prepared for any backcountry situation, so get ready for some exciting fishing! All necessary licenses, live bait and gas are also provided.

Have you ever wanted to experience the thrill of an acrobatic Tarpon on your hook or a reel-screaming bite of a bonefish? In that case, fishing with Captain Justin and Hot Water Fishing is just what you are looking for. The Florida Keys is one of the most prolific waters in the world. A fantastic experience fishing and enjoying the natural beauty of the keys. This was our first time saltwater fly fishing and my 11 year old son caught his first Tarpon! Justin was a great and highly recommended! He is a knowledgeable and patient fishing guide. Thanks for the memories!

I have fished with Justin twice now and he can find the fish! Most importantly he is a great guy to get along with and easy to talk to while spending 8 hours on a skiff. If you are serious about getting after this notorious fishery in the Keys or just a easy going day on the water, Justin is the guy.

We did 2 trips with Justin in January. It was my 2 kids first time flats fishing. Weather was raw on the first day but we had some hookups. Second trip the weather was much better. The kids both said no more offshore fishing for them. They loved the backcountry. Justin’s sharp eye had us on fish. We had a cool chance to see several huge schools of floating permit just chilling out. We are going back in March to go out with Capt. Justin again. Highly recommend.

Great day on the water, very knowledgable guide, got us on bonefish and tarpon multiple times, and permit at the end of the day. Also liked the quick and easy communication via email and messenger. Thanks Justin, I hope we can repeat that soon!
