For over 38 years, Tacky Jacks has served the Orange Beach community with tasty food and excellent service. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and are located right on the water. You can even dock your boat at their dock and walk right in. They pride themselves on being a restaurant accessed by land or sea. The restaurant overlooks the Perdido Pass. See the beautiful sunrises over the water, and you might get a show of dolphins jumping as you eat and sip tasty beverages at their outdoor seating.
Tacky Jacks has been voted in the local people’s choice awards as having the friendliest staff, the best atmosphere on the beach, the best happy hour around and the best bar in town. It has been a favorite hangout for locals and tourists for decades. There is a gift shop with an extensive choice of memorability of your time here. If you are a visiting angler, they will even cook your catch after a fun day fishing on the Gulf of Mexico or in the bays.
The food at Tacky Jacks is flavorful and satisfying. Many standouts on the menu keep the locals and visitors of the city coming back for more. For breakfast, you must try the Farmers Omelette, which has been voted one of the top 100 menu items in Alabama to eat before dying. This is a large omelet filled with two types of meat, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, potatoes and two kinds of cheese, American and cheddar, inside and melted on top of the eggs.
There are also two Gulf shrimp dishes that should not be missed. The Shrimp omelet has been voted one of the best omelets in the bayou, and The Shrimp and Cheese Grits is one of the best breakfast items in town. There are also traditional breakfast selections like pancakes, french toast, and biscuits and gravy. Don’t forget the famous Jacks Bloody Mary made with Whiskey Willy’s Bloody Mary mix.
The lunch and dinner menu is full of delicious items. The house specialty is the Tacky Shrimp. This is sauteed shrimp in a flavorful clam and tomato broth seasoned with special herbs and seasoning served with crusty French bread or over rice or pasta. Other items not to be missed are the Green Tomato Fries, green tomatoes cut like french fries that are battered and deep fried and the Crab Claws, fresh crab claws that can be fried or steamed. They are not to be missed.
here is also the very popular Mexican Garbage, a massive pile of nachos with meat, tomato, onions, black olives, two types of cheese, sour cream, jalapeno peppers and salsa. For more substantial meals there are outstanding fish tacos: your choice of Mahi Mahi, Grouper or Flaky Fish, Royal Red Shrimp “The “Crown Jewel of the Gulf,” are steamed with melted butter, the Shrimp and Grits, a fan favorite with seasoned gulf shrimp, Conecuh sausage and a flavorful Tacky broth over cheese grits, and three fresh fish platters: Ahi Tuna, Grouper and Mahi Mahi. Don’t miss the Chocolate Brownie Explosion for dessert. If you go fishing on one of the many fishing charters, you can bring your catch to the restaurant, and the talented chefs will perfectly cook your fish.
Tacky Jack’s bars serve up some of the best cocktails around. They are famous for their Jacks Famous Bushwacker, an adult milkshake made with three types of Cruzan rum and Kamora coffee liqueur. There is also the Tacky Daquiri, made with Cruzan rum and flavored with your choice of strawberry, banana, peach, and mango, and Jacks Hurricane, a concoction of Cruzan orange rum, Amaretto, Triple Sec, Orange and Pineapple juices, and a splash of cherry. They also have a wide selection of craft, domestic and imported bottled beers. Don’t miss their famous happy hour from 3 pm – 6 pm, where you can get $2.50 domestic bottles, $2 well drinks, $1 off signature drinks, and $4 Bushwackers!
