Description
From Narragansett Bay to Block Island to the Canyons, there are so many fishing spots in “The Ocean State,” Rhode Island. The waters are teeming with life, and fishing here makes for a very productive day. You can target Striped Bass, Bluefish inshore, Tuna, Marlin, and Sharks offshore. Rhode Island has many Rhode Island Fishing Charters that will cater to your needs to ensure that your time on the water is memorable.
Rhode Island is the smallest state in the country, but it still has plenty of spots to fish. Great inshore fishing can be found in the Eastern section of the state with Narragansett Bay and the Rhode Island Sound.
There is excellent fishing for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Weakfish, Tautog, Black Sea Bass and more from Newport, Narragansett, Judith Point, Providence and many more harbors up and down the coastline. To the South, you will find Westerly and round Watch Hill Point and the Lighthouse, which have great fishing on their own off the coast but are also a great jumping point to Block Island and the Block Island Sound.
Block Island is 9 miles off the coast and is home to some of the best Striped Bass fishing in the Northeast. The largest Striper of record was caught here, and the chance of pulling in a 40+ pound cow is very high. But even if you do not pull in a giant, there are plenty of Stripers in the area, along with Bluefish, Tautog, Sea Bass, and more. The inshore game for Rhode Island is found up and down the coast and in the Sounds, Bay, Inlets, and many islands, all with ledges and bottom structures that house many species of fish.
Block Island has excellent inshore fishing, but it is a great place to start an epic offshore adventure. From here, you can head out to the Continental Shelf and the Canyons, where the big predators live. The Hudson Canyon, Atlantis Canyon, The Tails, and Veatch are deep and great places to pull in all the trophy fish you want to catch.
You can battle with Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Swordfish, and Sharks like Mako, Blue, Hammerhead, and White and Blue Marlin. These trips take some time, so prepare for a full day or make it an all-nighter or multiple-day trip. The fishing offshore is off the charts, and if you have an angler’s bucket list, you can check off a lot of boxes as you battle some giants.
With year-round fishing and abundant and diverse fish in the waters, anglers of all ages and experiences visit Rhode Island. There are many options and places to experience a day or multiple days on the water. Rhode Island Fishing Charters can take you on charters specifically for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Tuna, or whatever fish you want to target. Or you can book a half day in the Bay, a full day going to Block Island, or an extended day going out to the deep blue, at least 12 hours.
No matter what trip you decide to book, you will find experienced captains and crew that know the waters of Rhode Island and the fish in the waters. They will get you pulling in your limits and more in no time. When you think of a fishing trip, Rhode Island may not come to mind, but you should. You will have a blast fishing here in Rhode Island!
