Los Sueños is widely known as one of Costa Rica’s top marlin fishing locations and throughout the year you can fish for blue marlin, black marlin, and striped marlin. Anglers love Los Sueños for its sailfish as well. Other deep water fish caught in Los Sueños waters include dorado (mahi-mahi, or dolphin), wahoo and yellowfin tuna. Los Sueños has fantastic inshore fishing as well with a variety of species including: roosterfish, Cubera snapper, rainbow snapper and snook.

Los Sueños has the largest marina in Costa Rica, making for various charter fishing choices. Black marlin and blue marlin are most active April through December with the most excellent fishing from October to December. Sailfish are available year round, but December through March is the most incredible time of year with some boats recording upwards of 20 hookups a day. Striped marlin is caught year round at Los Sueños. Fishing for yellowfin tuna is also excellent year round. Dorado fishing is best in the winter months, but summer fishing for dorado is also good. Wahoo is good January through September.

Inshore fishing for roosterfish and snapper are excellent in the months of July, August and September. Great snapper fishing is also available October through December. Fishing for snook is consistently good year round. Los Sueños is a tropical climate with year round temperatures in the mid 80’s to 90 degrees in the daytime and lows in the low to mid 70’s for beautiful nights year round. The rainiest months are September and October, but being alongside a tropical rainforest, Los Sueños gets rain year round.
