Central America

Central America runs from Belize and Guatemala in the north, Panama to the South and. to the east is the Caribbean Sea, and in the west is the Pacific Ocean. Being surrounded on both sides by the water make these seven countries ideal for some epic fishing and home to excellent fleets of Central American fishing charters. There are many hotspots to venture to on a journey down to “América Central.” There is the Mesoamerican Reef that stretches from Honduras to Belize and some of southern Mexico, the Hannibal Bank and Zane Gray Reef of Panama, and so much more. There are inshore flats fishing, incredible reef fishing and epic battles offshore. A fishing trip to one or all of the countries here is a sure bet for fun and lots and lots of fish.

Belize Is famous for its Permit fishing on the flats. Guatemala is known as one of the “Sailfish Capitals of the World.” Costa Rica is known for all of its Billfish, especially the Blue Marlin. Islas de la Bahia in Honduras is host to incredible flats fishing and a great deep water bite. El Salvador’s Costa del Sol is another fantastic Sailfish spot. The San Juan River in Nicaragua is where you can find huge Tarpon and Snook. Panama has the Gulf of Chiriqui for giant Roosterfish and Cubera Snapper. Because of their proximity, no matter which country you visit, you will want to fish all of them. There are so many different choices of fishing and fish to catch.

There are not many places better suited for inshore fishing than Central America. It has the Mesoamerican Reef and over 2,500 miles of Pacific and Caribbean shorelines. It is part of the “Ring of Fire” and has thousands of islands, deep structures and massive reef systems that are home to a number of fish. Inshore you will find Permit, Tarpon, Bonefish, Snook, Jacks, Snapper, Roosterfish and Barracuda. In many hotspots, landing up to 30 different types of fish is not unheard of. The offshore fishing grounds are not far from shore, so there is more time for some of the best billfishing in the world. In these deeper waters, you can fight with Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, Mahi or Dorado and Wahoo. You will have an amazing time no matter where you are.
