It’s always a pleasure fishing with Dave. It’s quite apparent that he knows the bay like the back of his hand. His ability to read the water is unmatched. It was one of those days where the fish just aren’t biting too strong. But these are the days that make you work, and work we did. I easily learned more about inshore fishing from this experience than any other trip I’ve been on. Dave taught me how to use a popping cork, which allowed me to catch my personal best speckled trout. I also got to try live baiting in a narrow mangrove creek, learned various techniques for spotting signs of fish, and caught my first Goliath grouper. 7 hours on the water goes by way too fast, and I hope to be back on board soon.

Stop searching - this is the trip you want to book. Seriously our trip was The Perfect Day — we caught lots of fish, from small trout to powerful sharks that wore us out! But the joy of the trip was bc of Dave’s inside knowledge - of the ecosystem and the political forces shaping it, to the currents, the wind and the stripes of color in the water that he correctly read as hungry fish! We experienced stunning scenery; even spying the recently “blown in” flock of over 50 spectacular flamingos!! We saw manta rays and needlefish, and Dave even knew to circle back when we came upon a pod of dolphin to allow them to swim alongside our boat and enjoy the bubbles of our wake! I can only say “wow!” And “see ya next time!”

Awesome day with Capt Dave!! My husband caught his first tarpon!! We were on fish all day-not to mention having a pod of dolphin play with the boat!! We will be fishing with Capt Dave again.

Captain Dave Perkins knows his fishery! He is a great captain. He is also super friendly. I called him last minute for a charter, and luckily he had a cancellation. We caught a bunch of speckled sea trout, lady fish, and a dozen snook. I also hooked a huge shark, but it got off. We also saw a bunch of Dolphins. I am an avid angler but my friend had never fished before. Captain Dave was able to put us both on fish. Regardless of your skill level, Captain Dave Perkins should be your go-to backwater fishing guide. Fishing aside, it was breath-taking to be out on the water where we went.

Had such a great trip! Dave provides a great, private expedition into Florida Bay and Everglades, just what me and my newlywed wife needed. Dave was personable, and the trip from booking to finish was laid back. Beyond the fishing, which was great (first Snook and Bull Shark we ever caught!), Dave provided so much knowledge and a keen eye to point out the many wonders of the Florida Bay. Beyond being a guide, Dave and his blog proved a great resource in all of the local spots to hang and eat. Looking forward to booking another trip in the future. This is a 10/10 recommend!
