Located in Larson Bay on Kodiak Island, Alaska, Driftwood Wilderness Lodge and Driftwood Wilderness Camp offer a unique opportunity for those interested in fishing, hunting, and experiencing nature at its finest. With a small local population, this area is known for its excellent fishing grounds in Ayuk Bay, where guests can fish for Pacific Salmon, Halibut, Rockfish, and Lingcod. Nearby streams and the Karluk River provide ample opportunities for catching Salmon, Steelheads, and Dolly Vardens.
The Lodge provides a comfortable stay with modern amenities including electricity, running water, WiFi, four bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. The Camp, created by Nick Blanco, is a rustic retreat made from driftwood milled on-site, offering a unique and natural setting. This cabin, over 1500 sq ft in size and located by a lagoon, features an outdoor bathroom, kitchen, dining area, and a large deck.
Fishing trips are a highlight, guided by Captain Nick on his 30-foot Stelzar Cabin Motorboat, equipped with the latest fish-finding and navigational tools. Hunting trips for Sitka Black-Tail Deer, Waterfowl, Mountain Goats, and Kodiak Brown Bears are also available, taking guests through the surrounding mountains and forests.
From the Lodge, guests can view wildlife such as whales, deer, bears, and Bald Eagles. The area’s isolation from urban settings offers a more natural and immersive wildlife experience. Stays at the Lodge and Camp are all-inclusive, including guided fishing and hunting trips, three meals a day, and the use of fresh catches in meal preparation. At the end of the stay, all fish and meat are vacuum-sealed for guests to take home.
To get to Larson Bay, visitors first travel to Kodiak Island from Anchorage, followed by a bush plane ride to the Bay. Nick meets guests upon arrival to take them to their accommodation. The Camp and Lodge are suited for those who enjoy outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, nature photography, and whale watching. The stay at Driftwood Wilderness Lodge and Camp offers a chance to connect with Alaska’s natural beauty and provides an enriching experience to share with future generations.
