Are you an angler that wants to try something different? At Big Ed’s Fishing, we offer three different types of fishing that will entertain novices, families, and more advanced anglers. You can try your luck on the ice, spending a day in a heated tent pulling in fish, learning how to fly fish, or going fishing on some of the most fertile, beautiful lakes in the country.

Big Ed wants to make sure everyone can go fishing. That is why he offers incredibly affordable prices that are perfect for families and large groups looking to spend a fun day on the lake.

Big Ed’s has the best guides in Colorado that know all of the waters in and around both Summit County and Steamboat Springs..

Big Ed has beautiful pontoon boats rigged for fishing the lakes of Colorado with Bimini tops, rod holders, downriggers, trolling setups, and casting setups.

Dillon is the home base for Big Ed’s, and the lakes and streams have Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee Salmon, Lake Trout and more. Trips range from 3 – 4 hours and accommodate up to 9 anglers. For trips longer than 4 hours, Big Ed recommends a trip to Antero Lake because you will be in a lake known for giants.

Antero Lake is located 45 miles south of Breckenridge. Antero Lake is known for its giant fish, and it is one of the premier trout lakes in the United States. Trophy Brown, Rainbow, Cutbow, Tiger Trout and Splake call this beautiful lake home. This trip is an angler’s dream and definitely should be on any angler’s bucket list for freshwater fishing. There are 4-hour and 6-hour charters with parties of up to 9.

Suppose you are further north in the Steamboat Springs area. In that case, Big Ed’s Fishing offers trips to Stagecoach State Park and the Stagecoach Reservoir. This area is known for monster, hard-hitting Rainbow Trout, Nothern Pike and Walleye. Big Ed provides 4 and 6-hour charters for up to 8 anglers.

Are you experienced at fly fishing or want to learn how to cast a fly for the first time? Big Ed offers guided half-day walk and wade trips where our experts and will teach those new to fly fishing all the basics and get you casting in no time.

Big Ed also offers ice fishing for you to try. You can go to Dillon, Antero Lake or Steamboat Springs. Big Ed has guides in all three places ready to teach you the ins and outs of this special type of fishing.

Big Ed’s Fishing has it all. No matter what type of fishing you want to do while in Colorado, Big Ed can cater a charter to your needs. Everything is included except for a Colorado Fishing License (which can easily be purchased online or at Walmart, Ace and Murdochs) and whatever snacks and beverages you wish, including adult beverages.

We had a great 3-hour morning trip (9:30–12:30) with Captain Cooper from Big Ed’s Fishing in Dillon, Colorado. Booking online was simple, with clear instructions on what to bring and where to meet. The boat was spotless and very comfortable. Captain Cooper made the experience unforgettable for my two sons (ages 6 and 10), teaching them about fishing gear and techniques while keeping things fun and engaging with great stories. We reeled in 9 fish, 8 rainbow trout and one brown trout (released). He even cleaned our catch, and we enjoyed the rainbow trout for dinner that evening!

If you’re looking for a guided fishing trip on Lake Dillon, Big Ed’s is the way to go. We’ll definitely book again, absolutely worth it!

If you’re looking for an incredible guided ice fishing experience in Dillon, Colorado, look no further than Big Ed’s Fishing and be sure to ask for Cooper. Our recent trip was absolutely top-tier. Cooper’s deep knowledge of the lake, expert instruction, and upbeat attitude turned a cold day on the ice into one of the most enjoyable adventures we’ve ever had.

Cooper knew exactly where to set us up for success. His top-quality gear and focus on safety kept everyone comfortable, even in freezing conditions. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced angler, Cooper’s calm and clear teaching style makes ice fishing easy to enjoy and easy to learn.

Beyond his fishing skills, what stood out most was Cooper’s friendly personality and dedication. He made sure every member of our group was engaged, having fun, and catching fish. The stunning scenery around Dillon Reservoir only added to the atmosphere.

We left with plenty of fish and even more great memories. If you’re planning a winter trip to Summit County and want to try ice fishing, Big Ed’s Fishing, especially with Cooper as your guide is the way to go.

This was our second fishing trip with Big Ed’s Fishing in Dillon, Colorado, and both experiences were fantastic! Our latest outing was guided by Joe, who was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the day truly memorable. We reeled in some rainbow trout and even a salmon, but the highlight was landing (and releasing) a massive Mama brown trout that Joe said was a rare catch many trout anglers never see! We also spotted a pair of bald eagles while out on the lake. If you’re visiting Frisco, Breckenridge, or anywhere near Dillon, don’t miss the chance to book a guided fishing tour with Big Ed’s!

We had an amazing time with Big Ed’s Fishing. Amy was an outstanding guide! She shared tons of local knowledge about the area, the fish species, and fishing techniques in a way that was both fun and educational. Even as someone who doesn’t normally fish, this ended up being the highlight of my trip to Dillon. The heated tent setup was cozy and made the whole experience comfortable and memorable. It was the perfect way to connect with my son, truly a special mother/son adventure. Highly recommend booking with Big Ed’s if you’re visiting Summit County!

We had an incredible time ice fishing with Big Ed’s Fishing Ventures in Fairplay, CO, just a short 40-minute drive from our condo in Breckenridge. Our guide, Amy, made the trip unforgettable for the whole family, especially our young kids (ages 4 and 5), who had an absolute blast. We stayed warm, caught a ton of fish, and enjoyed snacks and hot cocoa right on the ice. This was the perfect winter activity near Dillon and Breckenridge. We’re already looking forward to booking another trip with Amy. whether in the summer or winter. Highly recommended for families visiting the Colorado Rockies!
