Brigitte’s Bavarian Bed and Breakfast offers a peaceful retreat just three miles from downtown Homer, Alaska, with cottages set on a hillside among birch trees. Guests are treated to sweeping views of Kachemak Bay, the Homer Spit, and the Kenai Mountains, along with glimpses of glaciers and the Harding Icefield. This family-friendly bed and breakfast features warm hospitality from hosts Brigitte and Willie Suter. Brigitte, originally from Germany, and Willie, from Switzerland, built the property themselves and take pride in its welcoming atmosphere. The couple is known for their love of crafting furniture, gardening, and preparing fresh, wholesome meals. Brigitte’s garden has been featured in *Sunset Magazine* and the B&B has received a beautification award.

Every morning, guests gather in the main house for a homemade breakfast that includes freshly ground coffee, peppermint tea from the garden, homemade sourdough bread, berry jams, and local specialties like smoked salmon and fresh fish when in season. The breakfast menu changes daily and often includes dishes like waffles with wild blueberries, fresh fruit salad, homegrown eggs in omelets, and traditional Swiss Müesli. Requests for special dietary needs are welcomed with advance notice, ensuring that all guests feel well cared for. Children are welcome, and there are several acres of outdoor space to explore, where moose sometimes wander through. A garden swing adds to the charm.

The cottages themselves are designed for comfort and relaxation. They each have their own entrance, a private bathroom, and a queen-sized bed along with a twin bed, making them ideal for singles, couples, or small families. Decorated with handmade furniture crafted by the owners, the rooms also feature a selection of Alaskan literature and natural artifacts like fossils. Guests can enjoy the sunny porches, stroll through the carefully tended gardens, or explore nearby trails.

Rates for the cottages start at $220 per night for single or double occupancy, with an additional charge of $45 for an extra person. For guests needing two beds, the rate is $265 per night with a minimum two-day stay. Single-night stays are available for $265.
