Family Time Fishing Charters, based in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, provides offshore and nearshore fishing trips for all skill levels. With a licensed and insured guide who knows these waters year-round, every trip is designed to be both productive and enjoyable. Booking in advance is recommended, especially during peak seasons, to secure a preferred date on the water.

Captain Justin Hill, the owner and operator, grew up in Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach, spending most of his life fishing along the Crystal Coast. His deep passion for the local waters led him to pursue competitive fishing, and since 2007, he has been an active member of the Southern Kingfish Association (SKA). As a veteran angler, he competes with his team, “Family Time,” aboard a 35-foot Triton powered by Suzuki engines. His background in both charter fishing and tournaments ensures a knowledgeable and dedicated approach to every trip.

A half-day trip stays within 10 miles of the shore and is ideal for those looking to spend a few hours fishing while still having time to enjoy other coastal activities. Depending on the season, common catches include King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Sharks, Amberjack, Bluefish, Bonito, False Albacore, Flounder, Speckled Trout, and Red Drum. The morning trip gets back by lunchtime, while the afternoon option allows for fishing during the later bite.

A full-day offshore trip heads up to 40 miles from shore, targeting topwater pelagic species along with bottom fish. Those looking for Mahi Mahi, Grouper, and Snapper will find this to be a great opportunity. Other common catches include Sailfish, King Mackerel, Cobia, Sharks, Amberjack, Black Sea Bass, Triggerfish, and Porgies.

A full-day Giant Bluefin Tuna trip is offered from November through February when massive Bluefin migrate through the area. This is a chance to catch one of the hardest fighting fish in the ocean, with the possibility of landing a true giant. Blackfin Tuna, Sharks, and Albacore are also common during this time.

A Gulf Stream trip takes anglers up to 60 miles offshore into the deep blue waters of the East Coast. This trip presents opportunities to hook into Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, King Mackerel, Cobia, Amberjack, Grouper, Triggerfish, and Snapper. Anything can happen this far offshore, making it an exciting deep-sea fishing experience.

Family Time Fishing Charters operates a Custom-Built Buddy Harris Sportfisher powered by a Detroit Diesel 735 HP engine. At 46 feet long and 15 feet 6 inches wide, it offers size and stability offshore. The spacious cockpit is set up for serious fishing, with triple spread outriggers, a Pompanette fighting chair, and large fish holds to keep the catch fresh. Inside, the salon provides comfortable seating for the ride to and from the fishing grounds, as well as a refrigerator-freezer, microwave, and a full-size restroom. Safety is a top priority, with high-quality gear such as ACR EPIRB and PLBs, offshore life preservers, and a life raft. Advanced Furuno Radar and Garmin MFD fishfinder with Chirp sonar capabilities help navigate and locate the best fishing spots. Shimano Tiagra Reels are used for offshore trips, while nearshore and live bait trips feature lightweight, high-performance rods and reels.

Also available is a Triton 351 Center Console, an essential part of Family Time Fishing Charters’ success in both charters and tournaments. This 35-foot vessel is powered by twin Suzuki 350 HP motors and provides a fast and stable fishing platform. At 10 feet wide, it offers plenty of space for fishing while maintaining speed and maneuverability offshore. It is fully equipped with ACR safety gear, EPIRB and PLBs, offshore life preservers, and a life raft. Navigation and fish-finding are handled with Simrad MFDs, radar, and Garmin electronics featuring Chirp sonar technology. The boat also has a private enclosed restroom for convenience.
