The grounds of the Central Gulf Coast are fertile with numerous species of fish, and Captain Tom Kate and T-Kat Charters know all about them. Captain Tom fishes the inshore, nearshore and offshore waters of Treasure Island, Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Petersburg, depending on where the fish are. Enjoy rod-bending thrills and excitement aboard the T-Kat.
Captain Tom is a local who has over 30 years of experience fishing. He has the knowledge and experience of the area and the fish to meet all your sport fishing needs. He is known as a "fisherman's fisherman" and is actively sought out for his knowledge of where to go and what is biting. A time on the water with Captain Tom is always memorable.
The T-Kat is a 31'Sportfishing boat with the latest and best fish finding and navigational equipment. It is a fast boat with a Yanmar turbocharged 315 HP diesel engine capable of a cruising speed of 26 MPH, so the fishing grounds are not far away, giving you more time to fish. She is large enough that six anglers can fish without being crowded.
Treasure Island and the Gulf Coast is a treasure trove for anglers. The waters have all of the prized fish that any fisherman wants to reel in. Inshore, you can cast your line for Tarpon, Redfish, Sea Trout, Snook and Flounder. Nearshore is a reef system home to reef fish like Amberjacks, Mackerel and Barracuda, along with large bottom fish like Grouper, Snapper and Hogfish. Offshore is where you can fight with the pelagic fish you have always dreamed of. Sailfish, Swordfish, Mahi Mahi, Kingfish, Wahoo and even Blue Marlin. Because Captain Tom fishes in such a large area, he can customize your trip to target whatever fish you want, depending on the season.
Captain Tom uses many different techniques for getting your fish to bite. Some of his favorites are light tackle, bottom fishing, trolling and jigging, but he has many other techniques in his arsenal.
There are half-day, ¾ day and full-day charters available. A half-day trip inshore or to the reefs is a great way to spend a part of the day and is perfect for families. Chartering a ¾ day trip means that Captain Tom can roam farther from the shore up and down the coast, and a full day trip will give you and him the freedom to go wherever the fish are biting. There are also specialty trips for 10 hours or more offshore in the deepwater, targeting Tuna, Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack and Billfish. All of these charters are for up to 6 anglers.
Custom built top of the line rods and reels are provided along with all bait, ice and coolers and all licenses. The Captain recommends you wear comfortable weatherproof clothes and remember to bring a ball cap, or wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a camera to capture those special moments. Captain Tom or the mate will clean, package and ice your day's catch for you.
Treasure Island may have gotten its name from pirate lore and hidden treasures, but let T-Kat Charters take you on a deep-sea fishing adventure and experience the true riches of Treasure Island.
