Off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale is the northbound Gulfstream current, making these waters very fertile with many fish species. This deep blue water is only two miles away from the dock of the “Lady Helen,” a 32′ Luhrs Sportfisherman. Captain Jeff Salter helms this boat, and with his twin-turbo Cummins diesel engines, it can get you out to the fishing grounds fast, leaving you more time for what you came to do, FISHING!!

The boat is large enough for six anglers to fish in comfort with the ability to walk around the boat safely with 360-degree fishing—no tangled or crossed lines. She is also equipped with the latest fish finding and navigation electronics. Captain Jeff takes the safety of his guest very seriously and not only complies with all safety regulations of the U.S.C.G., but also has an EPIRB (satellite-based emergency beacon) and a six-man life raft onboard. Captain Jeff specializes in the exciting live bait kite fishing for Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish and Tuna and the “Lady Helen” is designed for this technique.

Captain Jeff came to South Florida from the Jersey shores when he attended Florida State Institute majoring in Offshore Marine Technology. He has had a love affair with the seas from an early age. He grew up as a kid fishing and crabbing in the Barnegat Bay and in his teens moved offshore to fish off the Jersey coast. After graduating from F.I.T., Captain Jeff bought his first boat, the “Blue Heron,” and for over thirty years, he has provided guests from all over the world exciting world-class fishing. He uses all of his experience, knowledge and expertise to put you on the fish and give you a memorable experience.

There are a few charter options for your choice. All charters are private with up to six people.

There are morning and afternoon 4-hour charters. Captain Jeff will take you out to the 3rd reef and do some kite fishing for some hard-hitting Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish, Tuna and trophy Sailfish on these trips. He will also drop lines to bottom feed for Grouper, Snapper, Hogfish and pelagic predators like Cobia, Amberjack, Mackerel etc. Bottom feeding is excellent because it keeps you fishing while waiting for the real action to strike the live bait attached to the kite.

6-hour charters take you a little farther out, where you can try your hand at catching monsters like huge Mahi, Sailfish and even Blue Marlin. Or you can spend more time on the reefs and wrecks off the coast if you prefer. You can also get the best of both worlds by combining some time offshore with some time on the reefs. Captain Jeff is always ready for all of his guest needs and remember, the deep waters are only a stone’s throw away, so getting to both in 6-hours is easily done.

For families with small kids and those prone to seasickness, Captain Jeff can take you on a trip to the calm waters of the jetties. You might not see monsters there, but there are still plenty of fish for you to catch, like Jack Crevalle, Barracuda, and other smaller fish. And even if you are a small kid, you will be able to land one.

Whichever charter you choose, Captain Jack and his crew will teach you all the tips, tricks and techniques they use to hook up with small, big and bigger fish. Captain Jeff hopes to see you on board for a trip of fun on the water, hopefully with a cooler full of fish. He hopes you can join the thousands of happy anglers who have walked off the “Lady Helen” with memories to remember long into your older years and hopefully back for more!!
