The waters of Miami are an angler’s paradise, and the premier fishing charter service in Miami is Capt. Jay’s Deep Sea Fishing. Captains Jay and Manny are two of the best in the business, and they have designed and built “The Spellbound,” the ultimate fishing vessel.
Captain Jay has been fishing since he was 18 months old, has fished on boats since he was 13 and is one of the most accomplished fishermen in Miami. Captain Manny has been fishing almost as long as Captain Jay, and there are nearly 60 years of experience between the two.
Their boat, “The Spellbound,” at 57 ft. long and 20 ft. wide, is one of Miami’s largest charter fishing boats. It can accommodate up to 20 people and is perfect for large parties, bachelor parties and more. It is also one of the fastest as it is powered by twin 400 hp diesel engines with two generators. It was really built for fishing with a Tuna tower, Outriggers, Downriggers, five fighting chairs and bait wells that can carry a total of 500 gallons of live bait storage and the boat is equipped with all of the latest navigation and fish-finding equipment.
The waters off Miami are teeming with life, and Captains Jay and Manny know where to go to put you on the fish. Fishing the reefs and wrecks, we catch many fish like Grouper, Snapper, Jacks, Cobia, Mackerel, Barracuda and Sailfish. Offshore is where the giant pelagics roam. You can hook up with Tuna, Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Grouper and Snapper on any given charter.
Captains Jay and Manny use many techniques depending on the type of fish you want to target. Live bait, jig fishing, chicken rigs and kite fishing are all tried and true techniques for the reefs and trolling is still the best way to fish offshore if you want to land some trophy fish. Deep dropping is another popular fishing technique used by the captains to land giant Grouper, Snapper and Swordfish.
There are a few charters available. Half-day trips to the reefs and wrecks, ¾ day charters to the reefs as well as the Gulf Stream offshore and full day excursions a little farther out but to real proven fishing grounds for larger fish.

a month agoMani, the main point of contact for us, was super professional and prompt in his communication. Our crew for the day was Jesus and Jordan. You can see the expertise from the way they tie and cast and get the entire rigging for multiple reels up in a flash. They helped us bait, reel in, net and remove the hooks. We had four catches in the first hour and a whopping 5 foot barracuda by the end. The ship Spellbound was well maintained, clean, and the bathroom was the same. Coolers were stocked with ice upon arrival and we got great parking instructions. Jesus kept the ship steady and no one got sea sick. 10/10 Would recommend to a friend and would do again.

2 years agoCapt Manny worked very hard to put us on fish on a 4 hour afternoon trip aboard the Spellbound. I cannot say enough about the boat, captain and crew. Everyone wanted to make sure that we had a good time. We put a 48” and 30” barracuda on the boat as well as a 40” amberjack,…..and my fiancé Dawn caught lots of Bonita for bait! Will return.

10 months agoBooked a full day. Requested to catch a shark. They delivered with an approximate 8ft Hammerhead Shark. Exactly what I’d dreamed of. Size is approximate as it’s catch and release, so we did not bring it on board. Also caught Barracuda and Tuna (2 species).

2 years agoManny and Mark were awesome! We had 11 of us for a bachelor party and it couldn't have been any better. They are one of the only charters that could accommodate a group of our size and they exceeded expectations. Both Manny and Mark were very knowledgeable and knew exactly where to take us to catch some big fish. Can't recommend the Spellbound charter enough!

3 years agoWent fishing on our honeymoon and had a BLAST! We had Capt Manny and Nano who took us out. Kim was also incredibly helpful in getting our day scheduled. Day 1 it poured and Kim answered the phone at 6:30 am to make sure we were or were not good to go. Day 2 of rescheduling Kim says we are good at 6:30 and when we arrive at the boat, Nano and Manny say we can go out but due to rain it may not be too fun, and if we can we should reschedule. Day 3 we finally got out and it was a BLAST! I caught a huge king mackerel, we caught a ton of tuna, and my husband caught a trophy size barracuda! We had the option to release the fish or mount it, and we chose to keep it and have a local taxidermist do the work, which was SO easy! We filled out a slip, paid for the services, and they handled the rest! We plan to go back to Florida in the near future, and another trip on the spellbound is a non-negotiable!
