The Troutfit Guiding, located in Cooma at the heart of the Snowy Mountains in NSW, offers fishing trips specializing in both Fly Fishing and Trolling on the Snowy Mountains Lakes of Lake Eucumbene, Lake Jindabyne, and various rivers throughout the Monaro and Snowy Mountains. During the summer, the business extends its services to the Central Highlands of Tasmania. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced angler, Captain Mick provides an enriching fishing experience. Beginners can learn the basics of fly fishing, from casting to landing their first trout, while gaining an understanding of lake and stream craft. Advanced anglers will have the opportunity to refine their skills and tackle more challenging fishing spots that require higher proficiency.

Captain Mick Couvee, the owner and operator, brings over 40 years of fly fishing expertise. He began his journey fishing in the small streams and rivers of the Snowy Mountains, including well-known locations like McLoughlan, Eucumbene, Bobundra, Murrumbidgee, and Thredbo, as well as the Snowy Mountains lakes such as Tantangra, Eucumbene, and Jindabyne. About 23 years ago, he expanded his fishing adventures to Tasmania, experiencing the massive Mayfly hatches on Arthur’s Lake and Little Pine Lagoon. Watching large trout rise to the surface to feed on Mayflies is a remarkable sight, and Captain Mick has spent countless hours fishing the 19 Lagoons, the Western Lakes on the Central Plateau, and the wind lanes on Great Lake, where catching big browns and rainbows is common.
The Troutfit Guiding offers a range of fishing trips, including half-day and full-day Fly Fishing and Trolling adventures in the Snowy Mountains, as well as similar trips in the Central Highlands of Tasmania during December, January, and February. Captain Mick’s fully surveyed boat is equipped for trolling and complies with Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) specifications. The boat accommodates up to two people and is outfitted for various fishing techniques such as flatlining, lead core lines, and downrigging, ensuring a versatile fishing experience for all skill levels.
