Fishology Alaska, based in Soldotna, AK, is committed to offering anglers the best fishing experiences on the Kenai Peninsula. Specializing in guided fishing trips on the renowned Kenai River, Fishology ensures a fun and successful time on the water, whether you’re targeting king, sockeye, or silver salmon, or trophy-sized rainbow trout. For those seeking a unique adventure, they also arrange fly-out fishing trips to remote Alaskan locations, as well as halibut and saltwater combo trips suitable for both beginners and seasoned anglers. With extensive local knowledge and partnerships with top guides, Fishology tailors each trip to match the season and fishing conditions for the best results.

Owned and operated by Captain Mark Wackler, who grew up fishing the Kenai River, Fishology is built on decades of hands-on experience. Mark’s connection to the area began at 15 when he got his first boat, and over the years, his love for fishing grew into a career. He became a Kenai River fishing guide at 17 and continued guiding through college while earning degrees in Fisheries Science and Science Education. Today, Mark runs Fishology alongside his family, providing expert guidance to those visiting Soldotna for an authentic Kenai River fishing experience.

Fishology offers a range of fishing trips for all skill levels. Their full-day river fishing trips are 8-9 hour adventures on either the Kenai or Kasilof Rivers, targeting species like salmon and trout based on the season and guest preferences. For a shorter but rewarding outing, half-day trips lasting about five hours are available. Fly-out fishing trips combine scenic flights with the opportunity to fish in some of Alaska’s most remote and pristine waters. Fishology also offers halibut fishing trips in Cook Inlet or Prince William Sound, where anglers can catch both small and large halibut. For an extended day on the water, saltwater combo trips provide the chance to catch halibut, salmon, and rockfish in one trip. If you prefer a peaceful day on the water without fishing, private nature floats through the quiet stretches of the Kenai Peninsula offer a relaxing way to enjoy the scenery and spot wildlife.

Fishology’s fleet includes 20-foot aluminum Willie Boats that can accommodate up to five people, offering comfort and space during your fishing adventure. Each trip is equipped with top-quality gear, and the team is always ready to assist, whether you’re a novice or experienced angler.

To round out the experience, Fishology provides lodging at the Orca Lodge, a hand-crafted Alaskan spruce lodge that adds comfort and authenticity to your stay. Custom fishing and lodging packages are available, and Fishology is happy to tailor your trip to your specific needs.

For those planning a Kenai River fishing vacation, Fishology Alaska in Soldotna is dedicated to making your stay and fishing trip as enjoyable as possible. Book your next fishing trip online through their website to start planning your adventure in the heart of Alaska’s famed fishing region.
