Elk Mountain Expeditions (EME), founded in 2012, is an outdoor adventure based in Aspen, Colorado, dedicated to offering personalized, unforgettable experiences on the waters of the Roaring Fork Valley. Owned and operated by three lifelong friends, Lange, James, and Conor, EME was born from their shared love of the Roaring Fork River and their passion for providing something unique in the rafting and fly fishing industries. Growing up exploring Aspen’s rivers, they set out to create a company that prioritizes incredible customer experiences over profits, focusing on expert-led trips and attention to detail. Conor Uris, one of the co-owners, is a lifelong Aspen local and an expert fishing guide. He grew up fishing the waters of the Roaring Fork Valley before traveling the world and later returning to Colorado to refine his rafting and guiding skills with childhood friends Lange and James. Combining his passion for fly fishing and whitewater rafting, Conor has built a company centered around hands-on outdoor experiences that reflect his deep connection to Aspen’s rivers. When he’s not guiding, you can find Conor chasing new species of fish in places like Mexico.

James Foerster and Langdon Adams, the other two co-owners, are both locals of the Roaring Fork Valley and bring decades of river experience to EME. James, with over 16 years of rafting experience, has worked on rivers throughout Colorado, including the Roaring Fork, Upper Animas, and Arkansas Rivers. A graduate of Fort Lewis College with a degree in Environmental Studies and Adventure Education, James is known for his passion for adventure and his dedication to sharing it with others. Langdon, who has been kayaking since he was 16 and guiding commercially since 2005, is certified as a Swiftwater Rescue Instructor and Wilderness First Responder. With extensive guiding experience on rivers across Colorado and Oregon, including the Class V Upper Animas and Rogue Rivers, Langdon is a trusted guide who’s always ready to chase adventure, whether on the water or on the slopes during ski season.

Elk Mountain Expeditions specializes in both guided fishing and rafting trips designed for every type of adventurer. For anglers, EME offers guided float fishing and wade fishing trips on the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers. Available for half-day or full-day trips, cater to both beginners and experienced angler. With a high success rate in landing rainbow and brown trout, these trips are all-inclusive, providing top-tier fishing gear, waders, boots, rods, snacks, drinks, and lunch (on full-day trips). EME’s guides also capture the experience with photos, ensuring you can relive your adventure long after you’ve left the river.

For those craving a little more excitement, EME offers thrilling rafting trips, including the Slaughterhouse Falls half-day trip, featuring Class IV rapids for an intense whitewater experience, and the Upper Roaring Fork, a family-friendly trip with moderate Class III rapids. For the seasoned adventurers, the Pine Creek & The Numbers full-day trip offers a challenging adventure with Class IV rapids. EME also provides stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and kayaking on the peaceful North Star Nature Preserve, perfect for those looking to explore the river at a more relaxed pace.
