Anchor Charter Boats with Captain Richard and the Kraken is located in Noyo Marina in Fort Bragg, California. Fishing in the Fort Bragg area occurs in the Pacific Ocean and along the Mendocino Coast. The Kraken will take you nearshore or to even deeper waters where the most popular game fish swim with the seasons.

Captain Richard is a local who has been fishing the waters in and around Fort Bragg his whole life. He is a 3rd generation charter captain taking over his family business in 2010. Before that, he honed his fishing skills with experiences all over the world. He is a happy, jovial guy who spreads happiness to all of the passengers on the Kracken as he jokes around. You will have a great time on board with Captain Richard, and because Fort Bragg is out of the way, fishing here is undisturbed and excellent.

The Kraken is a 50’ Delta licensed for up to 49 people for 100 miles. It is equipped with the latest modern fishing finding and navigation instruments. The Kraken is one of the fastest boats in Fort Bragg, with a cruising speed of 15 – 25 knots. It will get you to the fishing grounds quickly, leaving you more time to fish. It is safe with lifejackets, including children, a fire prevention system and a complete supply of safety equipment. It is large and has a heated cabin and large clean restrooms. It was built for fishing and has taken happy passengers out for many years.

The fish that you can find off the coast of Fort Bragg are Rockfish, Ling Cod, Chinook Salmon and Albacore Tuna. There are also Dungeness Crabs in the water.

Two main fishing techniques are bottom fishing for Rockfish and Ling Cod and trolling for Salmon and Tuna.

Anchor Charters offers 5-hour morning/afternoon trips for salmon 7 days a week and 5-hour charters for rockfish/lingcod. A 10 – 12 hour Albacore Tuna trip is also available. This trip is only for max. 10 anglers. Half-day Crabbing trips are available as well. In November and December, rockfish/crab combo charters are available. Drop your crab pots on the way out to sea, fish all day and come back home and check your pots.

You should wear comfortable clothing that matches the weather: waterproof clothes for rain and sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat for sunny weather. Slip-proof shoes are also recommended. For all trips, a license is required. $5 will be charged for gear rental except when paying in cash, and then it is free. You should also bring a cooler for your fish after we fillet it for you, and we can cook your crab for nominal prices.

A day on the Kraken is a day of fun and fish. You will have a blast aboard the Kraken with Captain Richard, guaranteed.

Our first ocean fishing trip was a huge success thanks to Anchor Charter Boats in Fort Bragg. The captain knew exactly where to take us to catch great fish, and the deckhands, Josh and Justin, went above and beyond helping my wife and our two boys throughout the trip. Their patience and expertise made it a perfect family adventure. We’ll definitely be booking again, this is our go-to fishing charter in Fort Bragg!

We booked a last-minute fishing trip with Anchor Charter Boats and it turned out to be an incredible experience. My friend had a blast, and even though I was nervous about deep sea fishing and unsure about the crew, they were all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I got seasick and tangled my line more than once, but the deckhands were patient and helped me every time without hesitation. Despite the rough stomach, I still caught my full limit! The boat was clean, well-organized, and the entire trip was smooth from start to finish. Everyone on board hit their limit too. What really stood out was how responsive the owner was, he answered every call, unlike other charters in the area we tried to contact. Anchor Charter Boats in Fort Bragg is the real deal. We’re definitely coming back for another trip.

My daughter and I joined a last-minute fishing trip with Anchor Charter Boats and had an absolute blast! She reeled in the most fish, of course . The captain was incredibly attentive to everyone on board, and the deckhand was both skilled and supportive throughout the trip. Whether you’re new to fishing or have experience, this is a perfect outing for all skill levels. Highly recommend if you’re in Fort Bragg and looking for a fun, family-friendly fishing adventure. Thank you for the great memories!

We chose Anchor Charter Boats in Fort Bragg to celebrate our 35th anniversary with a whale watching tour and we’re so glad we did. The Kraken is a beautiful, well-kept charter boat, and the crew couldn’t have been more welcoming or professional. Captain Richard and Corrine made the entire trip unforgettable. Richard, a third-generation local captain, shared his deep respect and knowledge of the marine ecosystem, guiding us to multiple whale sightings. He approached the whales gently, giving us an up-close look without disturbing their natural behavior. Cruising along the Mendocino Coast with these amazing creatures was truly special. If you’re visiting Fort Bragg or Noyo Harbor, support this outstanding local business. A top choice for ocean tours and whale watching in Northern California.

Incredible fishing and wildlife experience with Anchor Charter Boats in Fort Bragg!
The crew made the trip memorable with their expertise, great attitude, and helpful service. We spotted whales, porpoises, and large jellyfish swarms during the ride. They even cleaned and filleted our catch on board. Can’t wait to book another charter with them soon!
